Hello from the Kirkwood Area Arts Council!
KAAC is a volunteer organization established to promote appreciation of and participation in the arts, and to help artists and arts organizations share their creations with the community. Founded in 2001, KAAC is a cultural resource for the Kirkwood area. Our board represents local cultural organizations and citizens interested in the arts.
Some of the activities sponsored by KAAC include:
- The Making Music Concert Series. These free outdoor concerts feature a wide variety of local music organizations. 2011 will be the ninth season.
- Art at the Station. A changing exhibition venue for area artists in the historic Kirkwood Station on West Argonne Drive in the heart of downtown Kirkwood.
- Two poetry reading series were held at the Kirkwood Train Station in the fall of 2010 and the Spring of 2011.
- A Little Lunch Music concert in the Opera Theatre of St. Louis Festival Concert series
In 2011 the City of Kirkwood Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Kirkwood provided the venues for our concerts and art exhibitions. We had the support of several community sponsors: Adams Place, Amici’s, The Argonne Gallery, Kirkwood Lions and National City Bank in Kirkwood. The Council received a grant from the Missouri Arts Council for our concert series.
We continue to explore various and unique artistic venues in our community. We’re a growing organization dedicated to service, and we always welcome new members. To learn more about how you can help provide a positive cultural influence in our neighborhoods. click here
Sincerely.
